“I wanted to become independent and support my livelihood.” – Mamoni Boro
From a home activity to a home enterprise
Mamoni’s Mushrooms
In Barikadanga village (Baksa district), Mamoni Boro (36) has spent years stretching limited resources to keep life running. She needed a steady way to earn from home.
Mushroom cultivation became that pathway- low space, low investment, quick returns, and high local demand, especially in winter.
The turning point : training + handholding
Mamoni’s dream took fruit when she connected with Sanjog in 2024 through a team member. Through guidance and structured training with Sanjog, she started cultivating at home. Already associated with Assam State Rural Livelihood Mission as a Krishi Sakhi, she soon began to enable others to learn the same skill and explore mushrooms as an additional income option.
For households like Mamoni’s balancing farming, caregiving, and wage uncertainty, that profit is the difference between coping and progressing.
